Al Qasimia University (AQU) was founded in 2013 under the Royal Decree No. (2), 2013, issued by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed AlQasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to establish a distinctive Islamic-Arabic university in the emirate of Sharjah named “Al Qasimia University”.
Positioned at a prominent location in the University City, AQU has an environment-friendly campus built with the latest systems of highest standards and combines the beauty of Islamic architecture and splendor of designs. In order to achieve His Highness's vision of it becoming a beacon of excellence in higher education and academic research - guided by principles of Islam and open to the world - the university has an integrated set of services which create an attractive and distinctive educational environment for students.
The university’s vicinity spans over 1,036,049 square meters which includes the Administrative Building, House of Islamic Manuscript, library, auditorium, mosque, colleges and residential halls for both male and female students as well as faculty members.
AQU has various segregated colleges for both male and female students. These are: College of the Holy Quran, College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Communication and College of Economics and Management. Each college consists of 17 lecture halls, 12 faculty offices and offices of the dean and assistant dean.
The three-floor Administrative Building, with an area of 6692 square meters, consists of offices of the Chancellor, vice chancellors, deans and 80 offices for the administrative staff of the university. Furthermore, it includes 24 lecture halls, in addition to computer labs, self-study areas, meeting rooms, the Drawing Hall, eating and resting areas, stationery shops, prayer rooms and two branches of the Sharjah Cooperative Society.
